Welcome to our unique 15th-century Dartmoor bed and breakfast, ideally located in its own private oasis of West Country calm, deep in the heart of friendly Moretonhampstead, Devon, gateway to the high moor.
Open all year, including Christmas, The LongHouse Bed and Breakfast stands on ancient burgage lines in the heart of this bustling Devon village situated in Dartmoor National Park. With thick granite walls, beamed ceilings and sloping floors, our property is completely traffic-free, with access via a pedestrian tunnel which passes beneath the adjacent houses. Totally secluded, we are only two minutes walk from all local amenities including a choice of pubs, restaurants, tearooms, craft and gift shops, cash point, post office and, of course, beautiful Dartmoor itself.
We offer three well-appointed bed and breakfast letting rooms: an en-suite double, plus one twin and one double which share their own private bathroom. Guests tell us they appreciate our comfortable beds, the quiet country nights, and great showers to start or end their day. All bedrooms have tea/coffee making facilities and a generous breakfast is served in our atmospheric beamed dining room with its inglenook fireplace.
All are welcome, including walkers, cyclists, children over 7 years of age and, for a modest supplement, the occasional well-behaved pet. Our tranquil secluded garden, with pond system and resident tribe of frogs, is also here for your enjoyment on those balmy Dartmoor summer evenings.
