Set in small copse of trees and surrounded by farmland in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), Higher Searles Down is a comfortable mid 19th century moorland farmhouse which was rebuilt in the early 90s after it had fallen into disrepair, and further extended by the current owners. Higher Searles Down is an ideal place for a couple or two sets of friends to base themselves, and is small, intimate and comfortable. With sweeping views down to the distant sea it offers an ideal touring base for all of Cornwall, or a home from home for those who want to experience the rugged beauty of Bodmin Moor and really get a way from it all.
Your hosts, Gill and Glen Forster, extend a warm and friendly welcome to their guests. Having travelled extensively throughout the world they offer the same spirit of helpfulness and friendship to their guests that they enjoyed on their own voyages.
We have two bedrooms that are extremely comfortable and well-appointed with beautiful views across our garden, Bodmin Moor and to the sea beyond.
Both have a king-size bed and en-suite facilities: one with bath, the other a shower. There is a colour television, tea and coffee facilities and a radio in each room.
Both Full English and Continental Breakfasts are accompanied by fresh fruit salad, freshly made home baked bread and home made preserves. We like to think that after one of our breakfasts you are well and truly set up for the day! Evening meals are by prior arrangement, and vegetarians are welcome.
